* To get the scales you need to find a Sack of Fish Bait which is dropped by Goblin Robbers in the Sanctuary of Zi'Tah.
* Trade the Sack of Fish Bait to the ??? at (E-8) near a lake in the Sanctuary of Zi'Tah to spawn a pugil NM Isonade.
* Defeat Isonade and reexamine the ??? again to receive the Handful of Crystal Scales (key item).

* Defeat Ubume and reexamine the ??? to obtain the Yomotsu Feather (key item).
* Return to Norg with the feather, and speak with Jaucribaix, who will accept the feather.

* Possible to pop the NMs shortly after 04:00. Time frame is possibly 18:00 - 06:00Verification Needed(Attempted to pop this shortly after 05:00 and was not able to. If someone actually did pop it after 4:00, it would abnormally be before 5:00)
* Two NMs spawn, Doman, a shadow, and Onryo, a ghost. Both are Black Mages, and Onryo can use Ancient Magic. Doman might as well. Verification Needed
* Both NMs are resistant to Stun.
* The two NMs can be spawned with sneak active to allow them to be fought one at a time.
o Sneak will wear on a ranged attack, so you must pull outside of sound aggro range.
* You only need to fight one as long as you sneak to spawn the NM's. Allow time for the one you did not pull to despawn and finish off the one you choose to fight.
* After defeating both NMs, reexamine the ??? spot to obtain the Faded Yomotsu Hirasaka (key item).
* If you zone out and dont examine ??? you will need to fight both NMs again.

Borghertz's Loyal Hands
From FFXIclopedia, the free Final Fantasy XI encyclopedia

Start NPC: Guslam - Upper Jeuno (H-8)
Requirements: Samurai 50+, Must have started Yomi Okuri quest
Items Needed: Kuftal Coffer Key, Quicksand Coffer Key, Uggalepih Coffer Key
Title: None
Repeatable: Yes, see Vingijard after AF is complete.
Reward: Myochin Kote, Myochin Haidate, Myochin Domaru

Previous Quest: Yomi Okuri
Next Quest: None

Walkthrough
* Speak to Guslam at H-8 in Upper Jeuno in the Durable Shields shop and accept the quest.

The Hands
* You'll need to head to Kuftal Tunnel and open a coffer there, so either:
* Obtain a Kuftal Coffer Key; or come as a thief and bring along tools to pick the lock.
* Open a coffer in Kuftal Tunnel and obtain the Old Gauntlets (key item).
* If you are reacquiring AF or getting AF for another job, skip this portion and proceed to the next step. If this is your first job, do the following:
* Head back to Upper Jeuno and talk to Guslam again, who will tell you he lacks the skill to repair them.
* Deadly Minnow, behind the counter in the same shop as Guslam, will tell you to find a Mithra at the Tenshodo for more information.
* Go to Lower Jeuno and go into the Tenshodo to talk to Yin Pocanakhu at J-8. Pay her 1,000 gil to have her give you the location of a toolbox.
* Head to Port Jeuno, go downstairs into the Auction House area, and find a ??? on some crates outside the Jeuno Duty-Free Shop (H-8).
* Click on the ??? for a cutscene and ask to have the gloves repaired.
* Go to F-8 in Castle Zvahl Baileys and touch one of the torches to spawn Dark Spark.
* Kill Dark Spark.
* Touch the torch again (make sure you touch the same torch you used to spawn him) to receive the Shadow Flames (key item).
* If other players in the party also need this key item, they can touch the torch as well - you don't have to fight him for each person.
* Head back to Port Jeuno and click on the ??? at the toolbox for a cutscene. This completes the quest.

The Rest
* Guslam mentions something about armor scattered about Vana'diel. You can find two more pieces of armor by simply opening coffers in the following zones:
* Quicksand Caves: Myochin Haidate
* Temple of Uggalepih: Myochin Domaru

* You must have SAM as your main job when you open these coffers.

Notes
* If you have any other Borghertz's Hands quest active you will need to complete that one before you can get this quest.
* After starting the quest, you can obtain the rewards in any order.
* The quest is marked complete upon obtaining the gloves.
* If your coffer in Temple of Uggalepih for the Myochin Domaru is at E-8 you will need an Uggalepih Key, if the coffer is at E-7 you will need an Uggalepih Key and a Prelate Key in addition to the Uggalepih Coffer Key to get to the chest.

Red Mage AF Guide

Special thanks to Erahdel

Red Mage AF1 Fencing Degen
Talk to Sharzalion at the bar in the Lion Springs Tavern. He wants some Orcish Dry Food.
To get this food, you need to get a key to open the Storage Hole which spawns randomly about Davoi.
You need to start this quest while being a Red Mage, but there's no need to fight the NM and attain the key item on Red Mage.
Travel to Davoi and defeat Purpleflash Brukdok around (E-9)/(F-9). He will drop the Davoi Storage Key.
Purpleflash Brukdok pops automatically every few minutes (about 5 to 10 min between spawns). If he is not there when you arrive, wait a little while. It should be soloable with any job level 60 or higher, and don't forget buffs like Shell, as it will attack you with several -ga spells and possibly use Manafont. Other orcs spawn in that area and they will link with the NM.
Note: there are a few orcs on the way that aggro even at 75, also all nearby orcs linked SMN75's Garuda fighting the NM.
Note: coming /NIN for the NM greatly helps. He spams Bio, Poison, Sleep that minimize risk of death.
The Storage Hole spawns randomly around Davoi, so just hunt around until you find it. There are patterns on the ground which identify potential spawn positions. The patterns look like someone stretched animal skins over a hole in the ground, except that they are the same colors as the ground. There are 4 "skins" in a pattern forming a rough circle divided into 4 quadrants with a fifth small "skin" covering the middle. Trade the key to it to receive the Orcish Dry Food (key item). The location changes each game day and disappears upon trading the Davoi Storage Key.
Some known locations of the Storage Hole are at (F-6), (G-9), (G-10), (K-10), (E-10), (F-7), (K-7), (I-7), (F-9), (K-9), and another at (J-8). There are other locations it can spawn in, anywhere on the map.
It is possible for the Storage Hole to spawn on top of the hill at (H-8), which is only accessable via the Monastic Cavern.
Once you have obtained the Orcish Dry Food, talk to Sharzalion to receive your Fencing Degen.

Red Mage AF 2 (One Who Dwells in Darkness)
Requirements: Must be a Red Mage of Level 50 +; Must have completed "The Crimson Ordeal"

The quest begins with Curilla in Chateau d'Oraguille. When you speak to her, she asks you to investigate the spirit in the Cathedral in North San d'Oria, she will give you the Key Item "An Old Pocketwatch". Go to the Cathedral in North San d'Oria, and go to the basement. Talk to Pagisalis there, and he will tell you that in order to pray, you must donate a "Square of Velvet Cloth", this is created from Weaving tradeskill, and is also buyable at the AH (Ran about 3k on Sylph). When you give him the cloth, you will see an event, and you will obtain "Old Boots". Return to Curilla, and you will see another event. During the event, Prince Trion will tell you, that the only way to exorcize the boots, is to bury them in a Crawler's Nest with Crawler's Blood, for a period of time. Curilla will then ask you to do this in her stead. Once you agree, go to Crawler's Nest. There kill Blazer Beatles, Mushussu, Rumble Crawlers and Exorays for a "Nest Chest Key" (These are all VT-IT to 45, but are easily doable with a single full PT, you MAY even be able to get some people camping the Exorays for Limit 1 quest to give you an extra key if they have them rotting). Then, open any Treasure Chest in Crawler's Nest (2 Notes: a. Treasure Chest NOT Treasure Coffer, they are completely different; b. You can not do this until AFTER Prince Trion tells you you need Crawler's Blood. If you do it before, you will only get the normal chest items). The Treasure chest will yield Key Item "Crawler's Blood". From there, go to I-10 of the North Crawlers Nest Map and find the ???. When you click on the ???, it will ask if you like to bury the Boots and Blood. Say yes, and then wait till the next RL day, in JST (Or after 10 AM EST). Click on the ??? again, and you will complete the quest and receive Warlock Boots.

Red Mage AF Gloves (The Vermillion Armguard of Bergholz)
Requirements: Must be a Red Mage of level 50+; Must have completed "The Crimson Ordeal" and "One Who Dwells in Darkness".

This quest begins with Guslam, in Upper Jeuno, Armor Shop. When you speak with him, you will see an event, in which he will tell you that Bergholz once created a set of unrivaled gloves for every job, and that they were lost after the Great War. He also tells you that a great many artifacts and great pieces of armor were lost then as well. **
From there, go to The Eldieme Necropolis. Kill Tomb Mages, Tomb Warriors, Haunts and Spriggans until you get an Eldieme Coffer Key (Note: This part is horrible, the undead are very tough, almost killing a full 56 PT, and they were only VT-IT; I strongly recommend, bringing an alliance and getting the key for everyone that needs it at once, as several jobs require it including PLD, BLM and WHM, just so you NEVER have to return). Once you have the coffer key, open any Coffer in Eldieme to recieve Key Item "Old Gloves". When you have the gloves, return to Gulsam, and he will tell you he is unable to repair the gloves. From there, go to Tenshodo Headquarters in lower Jeuno. Talk to the Mithra there (Sorry I don't recall the name, but its the only one there), and she will tell you, that for 1000 gil, she will tell you where Bergholz' tool box is. When you pay the gil, she tells you, so head to Port Jeuno, and click on the ??? in front of the Duty Free Shop. You will see an event, in which Bergholz will ask if you wish to commission a pair of gloves. Say yes, and he will ask you to return with the gloves and "Black Flames" from Castle Zvhal. Go to Castle Zvhal, and from there, go to straight up the main path, and when you come to a cross roads go straight. You will see a gate, and there will be a "Torch" there. Click on the "Torch" and Dark Spark spawns. Kill it, and then click on the "Torch" again to receive Key Item "Black Flame" (2 notes again on this a. Everyone who needs "Black Flame" can click on the torch to receive it, so killing Dark Spark will accomplish this for as many people that participate; b. Dark Spark is not very difficult. In fact, the Undead in Eldieme for the Coffer key were signifigantly harder, a solid group of 54 will have no problems with him). Once you have the "Black Flame" return to Port Jeuno, click on the ??? in front of the Duty Free Shop again, and Bergholz will appear again, and give you Warlock Gloves, and complete the quest.

Red Mage AF Tights
Requirements: Must be a Red Mage of level 50+; Must have completed "The Crimson Ordeal"; "One Who Dwells in Darkness"; and to have accepted the quest "The Vermillion Armguard of Bergholz".

Once you have completed the section under "The Vermillion Armguard of Bergholz" I notated with a **. Go to Garlaige Citidel, and there, kill Fallen Major's, Fallen Mages, Wraith's, Hellmines, Over Weapons, Vault Weapons, Magic Jugs or Tainted Flesh to receive a Garlaige Coffer Key. When you have that, open any Coffer within Garlaige Citidel, and you will receive Warlock's Tights.

Red Mage AF Tabbard
Requirements: Must be a Red Mage of level 50+; Must have completed "The Crimson Ordeal"; "One Who Dwells in Darkness"; and to have accepted the quest "The Vermillion Armguard of Bergholz".

Once you have completed the section under "The Vermillion Armguard of Bergholz" I notated with a **. Go to Castle Oztroja, and there, kill Yagudo Flagellent, Yagudo Prelate, Yagudo Conductor, or Yagudo Assassins to receive an Oztroja Coffer Key. When you have that, open any Coffer within Castle Oztroja, and you will receive Warlock's Tabbard.

Red Mage AF 3 (Peace for the Spirit)
Requirements: Must be a Red Mage of Level 50 +; Must have completed "The Crimson Ordeal" and "One Who Dwells in Darkness".

The quest, again begins with Curilla in Chateau d'Oraguille. She will ask you to continue your investigation on what had happened to Raimenard, her father. From there, go to Sharzalion in South San d'Oria again, and he will tell you, that the only way to speak with a spirit that he knows of, is too dangerous. This however does not stop his friend behind the bar from telling you how to do it, because he wants to hear a good story! You will be told that the only way is to throw an old coin into the Fountain in the ruins of Fei'Yin. Fei'Yin is located far to the North, at the Northern end of the Beaucidine Glacier. Once there, proceed north until you get to the large, central Fountain Room, which is at (H-8) on the first floor. In this room, there is a Notorious Monster named Miser Murphy. He spawns, every time a Red Mage that is at that point in the quest enters that room. (If you are going to kill him enough times for every Red Mage, make sure they all are at that point in the quest, or else he will stop spawning). Miser Murphy is about level 60ish, is a normal Ghost style monster, and is doable with about 6-12 level 60+. He is not very difficult, but can be rather....obnoxious. Be very careful though, he does cast Ancient Spells, and can attack with an added effect Drain, that does 500 damage, make 100% certain the tank is being healed constantly. Also watch your levels...the room is full of Revenants and Clockwork Pods which you do not want them to agro you. When you kill Miser Murphy, it drops an Ancient Coin. Trade the coin to the point at the North end of the fountain, also in (H-8). You will be treated to another event.
After the event, return to Sharzalion and tell him what you saw. Then speak with his friend behind the bar again. You will be told, that they can not help you further, but maybe one of the other patrons can. If you speak to the Galka in the same bar, he will tell you, that while he was exploring Garlaige Citidel, that he came upon a strange box, that he was unable to open, however with a Nail Puller, you may be able to open it.
Now, head to Garlaige Citidel, bring alot of friends with you for this though, as this part can be rough. Immediately behind the first Banishing Gate, in the rooms right there, you will find an Oaken Box. Clear all the Undead from those rooms before you examine it though. When you do, Guardian Statue will spawn. It is recomended to have about 18 Level 55's or about 12 Level 60s for this part. Guardian Statue is a "Doll" type model, it CAN explode like a bomb, but I don't recall seeing this one do so. It also has an AE attack that does about 200-300 damage to everyone around. When it is dead, it will drop a "Nail Puller", trade this to the Oaken Box, and you will see yet another event. Return to North San d'Oria at this point. As soon as you enter North San d'Oria, you will witness another event, complete the quest, and receive your Chapaou. Also, for an added bonus, you get the new title "Paragon of Red Mage Excellence".
_______________________________________________________________________________________________________________
Garlaige Citadel(Trousers)-
The coffer key to this one is no brainer, the mobs are pretty easy to get to and pretty easy to kill.
The coffer is always gonna be behind a banishing gate so you're gonna need to bring a pt and open the gates. I would recommend you have your pt open one of the gates and if you can't find the coffer behind the one you go thru, logout there and come back an hour or so later and search again.
Eldieme Necropolis(Gloves)-
Bringing an alliance is a really really BAD idea.
The reason is you will be fighting skeleton mobs and when they do thier AOE drain, if there are 10 ppl meleeing it, it will gain back 100% HP so your gonna be fighting it forever and wasting tons of mp on heals. Also you need to sneak pretty far into the necropolis to get to the camp spots and moving 18 people around is quite a daunting task. You're gonna want to keep the number of people going to a bare minimum. What I would personally recomend is an XP pt configuration of lvl 55ish. If you can, bring a monk or even better two of them (THF subbing monks works GREAT too), you will beat skeleton mobs down in record time with 2 hand-to-hand users. The best camp spot is to goto the southern-most room on the 1st floor of necro (have someone open doors with switches) then drop into center hole and hug the wall to your left until you get to a stairway, then pull tomb skeletons from inside the rooms @ the top of the stairs. (you will have to clear liches away 1st but they are EP/DC to 55+.
Castle Oztroja(Body)-
A balanced pt of 55+ can get this, the problem is the lack of safe pulling spots. A good alternative method for getting this if you have time/patience is to camp in Castle Oztroja and do /sea until you see a lvl 70 ninja come in. (usually JP) Quite often, JP NINs will come into castle oz to solo Yagudo Assassins for thier limit5 Ninja Testimony. The assassins also drop coffer keys so send them /tells and ask if you can be thier healer/haster in exchange for keeping any coffer key drops. They will usually say ok, so all you gotta do is keep them healed and buffed while they bash away at assassins and usually a coffer key will drop before a testimony does. I found this method to be alot easier than bringing a PT because you're gonna be the only one needing the key.
The coffer in here is a real bitch to get cuz of all the thieves camping astral rings, I would recommend just running around for a few hours and hoping you run into it before a THF does.

Ranger AF Guide

Special Thanks to Erahdel

Hunter's Beret (54):
Talk to Perih Vashai after you are level 51 to get the quest.
Then talk to Koh Lenbalalako for more information.
Once you speak to Koh, another cutscene ensues. In it you find out more about the whereabouts of the Traitor's Daughter's remains... in Eldieme Necropolis.
Upon entering Eldieme Necropolis you get another cutscene in which the Mithra Tracker wants you to go ahead of her and "clear the way" to the tombstone (southernmost G-9 of 4 chambers in the Eldieme Necropolis area accessible from I-10 in Batallia Downs.) At this point any RNG doing this quest should be able to solo their way to the room with some luck and a few silent oils. The only barrier lies in the possibility of closed doors in which case a friend going to the central room and flipping the appropriate switches is a godsend. When you get to the tombstone (in a small hallway off the north side of the southernmost chamber), examine it but be very careful of the Azer that is typically there... it's one of the few mobs in Eldieme Necropolis that will aggro by sight and it's almost sure to attack you at some point. Upon examining the
tombstone (and once the cutscene is over), you can leave.
Go back to Windurst and talk to Perih Vashal once more where you will see another cutscene. You are confronted with the tracker and Perih once more and find out that you will need to go to Castle Oztroja and find an Old Earring. This time the tracker doesn't want to go with you as they feel that only a Ranger will be able to obtain the Old Earring.
When you get to Castle Oztroja you need to go past the first doorway with the trapdoor and proceed up to the 2nd doorway with the 4 lever switches (which leads to the Yagudo Abbot ridden area for one of the WHM AF). Once inside this doorway proceed all the way up the stairs to a chamber with a pool in the middle of it. This pool will be surrounded by Yagudo and full of Leeches called Yagudo Parasites. From here, run into the pool, make sure no Yagudo are lookin' your way, Scavenge, Camouflage, and run back out of the room to the safety of the hallway. You may not get the item the first try, but at this point simply wait 5 min, reapply sneak/invis and repeat as many times as necessary for the item.
Return to Perih in Windurst. After the final cutscene, you will receive the Hunter's Beret.

Coffers:
Hunter's Bracers (52):
Garlaige Citadel then Dark Spark
Fallen Mage, Fallen Major, Hellmine, Magic Jug, Over Weapon, Tainted Flesh, Vault Weapon, Wraith
Hunter's Jerkin (58):
Monastic Caverns
orcs on the island?
Hunter's Braccae (56):
Crawler's Nest
Crawler Hunter, Helm Beetle, Knight Crawler, Water Elemental

Hunter's Socks (60):
Buy a Gold Earring from the AH.
After you have completed Fire & Brimstone (a.k.a. Tribe of Fire) talk to Perih to continue the search for the sinner. Go to Mhaura, the mithra standing in the corner of the Smithing guild tells you part of a story, and tells the rest when you give her a gold earring. Trade her the earring (that you brought along) and she continues her story about the sinner and Xarcabard.
Follow the sinner to Xarcabard, and a cut scene starts where the tracker talks to you. Go to the cave in E-7, and examine the ???. A cut scene starts where a tiger starts attacking you. You must kill Koenigstiger to continue.
Once you kill the tiger, go to the cave @ E-8. examine the ???. After another cut scene, examine the ??? at E-8 again to get a bonus prize of 99 ice arrows.
Travel back to Windurst and talk to Perih. You are rewarded the Hunter's Socks for your help and hard work.

Sniping bow (40):
Perih Vashai will ask you to hand Semih Lafihna the Chieftainness' Twinstone Earring (key item), and tells you to speak with the Sibyl Guard Semih Lafihna in Ranguemont Pass, which can be reached in the northeast of East Ronfaure near San d'Oria.
When you enter Ranguemont Pass, proceed north until you reach the guarded door, and talk to Perchond (F-10).
After the cutscene, have Myffore open the door and head through.
Start off going north and east, but head north at the T and northwest until you find the Evil Weapons at (E-5). Kill these for the Glittersand.
Return back and trade the Glittersand to Perchond, who will give you a key item "Perchond's Envelope."
Head to Jugner Forest and near the large lake you will find Alexius (I-6), who will tell you to inspect the ??? just south of the lake, at H-6, during the Full Moon.
For the moon to be full, the cycle needs to be >90%.
Check the ??? during a full moon, watch a cutscene, and return to Perih Vashai for your reward.

(Note: extends the duration of camoflauge effect)

(Note: increases duration of bind effect by 10 seconds)

(Note: does not extend duration of ability: item appears to increase ranged accuracy bonus given by sharpshot)

*Iruki-Waraki's trying a way to get his automaton back from the thief. However, since the thief knows him, he can't do it directly. He conjures up a scheme but needs you to bring him back some items.
* Necessary items:

Sleeping Potion x1
Chai x1
Sleeping potion can be obtained from the Auction House, and Chai from the Shararat Teahouse (K/J-12) in southern Whitegate.
* After acquiring the items, trade them back to Iruki-Waraki for a cutscene. He asks you to invite the thief to have tea with you in Nashmau.
* Travel to Nashmau and speak with Dnegan at H-6 on the second floor for a cutscene.
* During the cutscene a bald hume named Yafahb will approach you. During the cutscene you are presented with three options:
Ask about the Automaton
Ask about getting around Nashmau
Invite him to drink some tea
* Select either the option for getting around Nashmau or to invite him to drink some tea. Selecting "Ask about the automaton" ends the cutscene and you will need to return another day to complete the quest.
* You will be taken back to the port where Iruki-Waraki has setup shop. He asks for you order. You get 3 choices, Chai, Coffee, and "I'll pass, thanks". Choosing either Chai or Coffee will work.
* Iruki-Waraki mixes the cups up and you have to choose which one you want. The cup with a suspicious vapor is the correct choice and won't put you to sleep. After that, Yafahb falls asleep but the Automaton runs away after being confronted by Iruki-Waraki. You then have to run to Caedarva Mire to find it.
* The ??? is at K-5 of Caedarva Mire on the same map as Azouph Isle Staging Point. However, you need to run through Arrapago Reef to get there. So your first destination is the I-6 zone to Arrapago Reef on the same map as Azouph Isle Staging Point, make sure you have a Lamian Fang Key to open the door. You can pick this key up on your way, at a ??? very near to the zone to Arrapago Reef.

There are lots of dangerous mobs on the way to (and through) Arrapago Reef so a mage sub or lots of Oil/Powders is recommended. You can change jobs to run through these areas and it will still allow you to complete the quest.

You start at I-11 on the map. You need to run to the Iron Gate at J-10 and open it up. When you get inside, you need to sneak and invisible yourself and continue running directly north through the area to J-8. Open the door there and go through. From there, go north and find the tunnel entrance at I-6. Go East and then take the fork going south in the tunnel to Caedarva Mire. The quest point location is next to a tree but be careful because a Mosshorn Ram and Elder Treant roam the area.

There'll be a cutscene with Iruki-Waraki coming to take the Automaton back but it refuses to come. He says there's nothing he can do and decides to come back later. Yafahb gives Iruki-Waraki an item that he got from the "girl" he mentioned earlier. Iruki-Waraki instead gives it to you.

Previous Quest: Operation Teatime
Next Quest: Achieving True Power

Walkthrough
* You do not have to wait until after midnight in Japan after completing "Operation Teatime" to start this quest.
*Speak to Iruki-Waraki. He is feeling blue, and trying to decide the best way to have Ellie return to him. He wonders why Shamarhaan picked him to be a Puppetmaster and what advice he would give about the situation.
*Go to Bastok Markets, and speak with Shamarhaan. When speaking with Shamarhaan, a cutscene will play. During the cutscene, he'll give you the key item Valkeng's Memory Chip, a memory chip from his own puppet. Next, he will tell you find a Toggle Switch in Mount Zhayolm, which must be obtained to continue the quest.
*There are two easy ways to get to this item: either by traveling to the Halvung Staging Point via the Runic Portal or by running to Halvung itself and escaping to Mount Zhayolm.
*Inside Mount Zhayolm, head to L-8. The ??? is near the cliff edge on a round manhole cover and gives the message "There is a detached part here..." to those who do not have this quest active.
*When the Toggle Switch has been obtained, go to Talacca Cove. Talacca Cove can be reached by either going through the Alzadaal Undersea Ruins or by taking the ship to Nashmau and then taking the western exit out of Nashmau
*Caedarva Mire is relatively safe area other than the Imps. Make sure to have Sneak and Invisible for chigoes, as well. Zone into Talacca Cove at E-9.
*Talacca Cove lacks mobs so feel free to run around it freely. The BCNM is at the Rock Slab at F-6, in the northwest corner of the map. The fight is called Puppetmaster Blues has a maximum of 6 people and the time limit is 30 minutes.
*When entering the BCNM, a cutscene will play. After the cutscene, an Automaton named Valkeng will appear in the middle of the BCNM. It will start out as Harlequin mode for the first 30 seconds starting from when the puppet is attacked.

Harlequin
* Weak to all types of damage.
* It will only cast Dia.

After 30 seconds, Valkeng will change into one of the three forms, depending on the type of damage it has received.
* If the majority of the damage is melee, it will change into Valoredge.
* If the majority of the damage is ranged, it will change into Sharpshot.
* If the majority of the damage is magic, it will change into Stormwaker.

After the change, every 30 seconds in the battle, it will re-evaluate the type of damage it has received, and change accordingly. The calculation is based on the total damage done during the battle, not just since the last evaluation.

Valoredge
* The Valoredge model has a high accuracy rating.
* The automaton's string clipper goes through two shadows, chimera ripper goes through one. It does not use cannibal blade
* Has high defense and physical damage reduction.
* Has low weapon delay.

Stormwaker
* Will cast Elemental Magic spells, including Ancient Magic, AOE spells, and tier IV spells.
* Casts a spell every 10 seconds.
* Has high magic resistance.
* Takes normal damage from melee and ranged attacks.

Sharpshot
* Will use ranged attacks.
* Has high accuracy and evasion.
* Has lower than average defense.
* Will fire a shot every 4-5 seconds, its ratio of melee attacks to ranged attacks is roughly 3:2.

*After the fight is over, the unit will self-destruct after asking a question (doesn't matter which answer is chosen). Return to Bastok to talk to Shamarhaan again.
*A cutscene will play in which he'll ask the same question as in the previous cutscene. As before, it doesn't matter which answer is chosen.
*After the cutscene, go see Iruki-Waraki in Aht Urhgan Whitegate again.
*A cutscene will play. After the cutscene, go to the Nashmau.
*Speak with Sajhra located at the exit port of Nashmau, and a cutscene will begin. Return to Aht Urhgan Whitegate and speak with Iruki-Waraki to begin the final cutscene, after which the Puppetry Taj is received.

Paladin AF Guide

Sharpening the Sword
From FFXIclopedia, the free Final Fantasy XI encyclopedia
This is the first Paladin Artifact Armor quest - otherwise known as AF1.

Start NPC: Ailbeche - Northern San d'Oria (J-8)
Requirements: Paladin 40+
Items Needed: None
Title: None
Repeatable: Yes, after AF is complete.
Reward: Honor Sword

Previous Quest: Father and Son and A Knight's Test
Next Quest: A Boy's Dream

Walkthrough
* Complete the Father and Son quest and make sure to give the Willow Fishing Rod back to the son.
* Talk to Ailbeche again.
* Talk to Sobane in (D-6) of Southern San d'Oria. Be sure to talk to her twice if you get a cutscene the first time - the cutscene is the beginning of the quest Signed in Blood and not part of this quest.
* Head to Ordelle's Caves, entering from the western most entrance, and look for a stalagmite around (H-10). The stalagmite is in the first small room above the large caverns. You can get to this location by taking the passage upward from (H-9).
* Spawn and kill the NM Polevik, an Earth Elemental. (Note: Can be killed on any job, as long as you have the quest.)
* Touch the stalagmite again to receive the Ordelle Whetstone.
* Talk to Ailbeche to complete the quest.

A Boy's Dream
From FFXIclopedia, the free Final Fantasy XI encyclopedia
This is the second Paladin Artifact Armor quest - otherwise known as AF2.

Start NPC: Ailbeche - Northern San d'Oria (J-8)
Requirements: Paladin 50+
Items Needed: Giant Shell Bug
Title: None
Repeatable: Yes, see Vingijard after AF is complete.
Reward: Gallant Leggings

Previous Quest: Sharpening the Sword
Next Quest: Under Oath and Borghertz's Stalwart Hands

Walkthrough
* After completion of Sharpening the Sword, speak with Ailbeche (J-9 in Northern San d'Oria).
* Talk to Ailbeche again and he'll request that you get him a Giant Shell Bug.
* Talk with Ailbeche's father Exoroche in the weapon shop in Southern San d'Oria for a cutscene. (K-7).
* Head to the Crawlers' Nest. Go to the center section and then north at the top of I-9 on the first map. This will take you onto the second map, the one with the other exit to Rolanberry Fields. On this map, go to the west side of H-9 and you'll find a ??? click it to spawn the NM Dreadbug. The Dreadbug will drop a Giant Shell Bug. Alternatively, you can often find Giant Shell Bugs on the AH.
* Trade the Giant Shell Bug to Ailbeche. (Note: This is not optional.) You can, however, go kill NM before you come back to Ailbeche and still pop the fish and trade the bait and then the fish to him one after the other.
* Head to Castle Oztroja.
* To get to the pool with the fish:
* Go beyond the Brass Door at I-8 on the first map to the next map, Castle Oztroja Map 3.
* On this map travel to G-7, which leads to Castle Oztroja Map 7.
* You will enter this map on the upper ledge. Follow the right wall to the doorway at I-7 which leads to Castle Oztroja Map 2.
* Follow the right wall to G-9 and take the path on the left, take another immediate left and continue until you come to a room of Yagudos with a round pool of water in the center at H-8. (This pool has Oozes in it. If you see Yagudo Parasites, you are at the wrong pool.) Clear the room.
* Equip the Giant Shell Bug and fishing pole, stand in the water and fish (type /fish)

NOTE:
* It doesn't matter who does the fishing, you or someone else in the group.
* You can fish it up with absolutely no skill in fishing, but it may take a while. (and you will risk losing your bait more often)
* The Yagudo in the room respawn about every 8 minutes.
* Seems to work with any fishing rod.
* The number of times you have to fish before you land it can vary from 1 to over 20.
* If you have never fished before, please practice so that you get used to the system. It is very easy to fish but if you've never tried you might lose your Giant Shell Bug. Practice with Little Worm as your bait at any pond where you can fish, such as the moat in Northern San d'Oria.
* Your line can break and you will lose your bait, so bring extra, just in case. Especially if you have no skill in fishing.
* (After a few times of not catching anything, I fished Odontotyrannus up with 0 fishing skill, so no need to go overboard with bringing extra).
* Fish up and then kill the NM pugil named Odontotyrannus.
* After killing Odontotyrannus, it turns into a Rare/Ex item of the same name.
* Take it back to San d'Oria and trade to Ailbeche. (Note: This is not optional either.)
* Trade the Odontotyrannus to Zaldon at H-9 at the Fisherman's Guild in Selbina.
* Head back to San d'Oria and speak to Ailbeche again.
* Return to Southern San d'Oria and talk with Exoroche again.
* Head into the Chateau d'Oraguille from Northern San d'Oria and go to H-7 in the gardens, where you will find the door to the Prince Royal's Room. Select the door for a cutscene with Prince Trion and to complete the quest.

Under Oath
From FFXIclopedia, the free Final Fantasy XI encyclopedia
This is the third Paladin Artifact Armor quest - otherwise known as AF3.

Start NPC: Trion - Chateau d'Oraguille
Requirements: Paladin Level 50+ San d'Oria Rank: 2 or Bastok/Windurst Rank: 3
Items Needed: Zvahl Coffer Key
Title: Paragon of Paladin Excellence
Repeatable: Yes, see Vingijard after AF is complete.
Reward: Gallant Surcoat

Previous Quest: A Boy's Dream
Next Quest: None

Walkthrough
* Go to Chateau d'Oraguille and click on the door to Prince Trion's chambers.
* After the cutscene, head to Southern San d'Oria and talk to Vemalpeau (M-7), who lives inside a small house.
* Then go to Lion Spring's Tavern and talk to Najjar.
* Next, head to Count Caffaule's Manor (B-6) and talk to Ullasa. Ullasa will tell you about Mique's Paintbrush. Once you see the reference to the paintbrush, you are flagged and can go key hunting.
*You do not have to be on PLD to complete the rest of the quest.
* Head to Castle Zvahl Baileys and seek out a Zvahl Coffer Key .
* You can obtain these by fighting Ahriman, Abyssal Demon, Arch Demon, Blood Demon, and Doom Demon.
* To the right is a map of the coffer locations. Basically, all the coffer drop mobs are in the four corners and the tunnels leading to the four corners. To get to these corners, you need to drop down into 4 different holes. But, the northwest hole will only lead to the northwest corner, and once you drop, you need to make your way back up to get to a different hole.
* Open a coffer and obtain Mique's Paintbrush (key item). Coffer can be opened on any job.
Note: If you have a current AF active from this coffer, the coffer will produce the AF and NOT the Mique's Paintbrush (key item).
NOTE: This can be picked as a Thief, since Paladin does NOT have to be your main job to obtain the Paintbrush. A 51 THF/NIN took 4 tries to pick the coffer, the first 3 being failures (no mimic) and the final yielding the paintbrush. If you attempt this as a thief, make sure you do not have Thief AF quests active as picking the lock can also yield a Rogue's Vest!
* Return to Southern San d'Oria and talk to Vemalpeau at M-7.
* Proceed upstairs in Velmapeau's house. Immediately to your left, there 3 spots that can be examined. Click on the painting on the wall above the first spot and select the option to "look behind the frame" and then "examine a letter." You will receive a key item Strange Sheet of Paper.
* Go across the street to the weapon shop (K-7) and talk to Exoroche, who will tell you that you need to dip the letter in a well in Davoi to have the ink appear.
* At G-9 there is a Village Well. (WARNING >> DON'T click on well till ready for fight) The person who needs this quest is the one who will touch the well and spawn two NMs:

* Three-eyed Prozpuz (RNG)
* One-eyed Gwajboj (PLD)
* You need a full alliance of level 55+, a full well rounded party, or high level help.
* The area should be cleared of orcs as they will link to the 2 NMs. They will aggro both sneak and inv, and Orcs usually aggro's by sight.
* The Paladin NM cannot be slept with lullaby, nor can the RNG be slept by a 75 RDM with cap enfb.
* The sneak method of pulling will make this fight easy for any lvl 75 with a Ninja subjob to solo. First clear the area of all Orcs, then (using Silent Oils or some form of sneak magic) spawn the NMs from the southeast side of the Village Well, standing as far back as you can then moving away as they spawn (they will not agro, IF you have sneak up). Go around to the south west side keeping your distance and then pull the One-eyed Gwajboj, back to a safe place to fight, if you do it this way you will only need to fight him and the other NM will not link (and given time will even despawn, meaning you only have to fight one NM).

If you are defeated/zone, you must wait until the NMs return to the well and depop then re-zone, Monastic Cavern is near, to pop the NMs again.
* Defeat the NMs to obtain the Well Weight and trade it to the Village Well for a cutscene where the letter will be typed into the log window. You will also get the Knight's Confession (key item).
* One-eyed Gwajboj drops the Well Weight whether or not the other NM is killed.
* After killing the NMs, only one Well Weight will drop. So if you have more than one PLD who needs the quest, you need to kill them both again and again.
* Next head to Northern San d'Oria and talk to Ailbeche (J-9), who will tell you about Vilbert taking him fishing in Jugner Forest.
* Go to Jugner Forest and head to the Maiden's Spring which is located in E-6 of the map. Once you get to the edge of the pond, a cutscene will occur.
* If you arrive by chocobo, you do not need to dismount to get the cutscene, though it will look as if you do.
* Finally, head back to San d'Oria where you may optionally talk to Ailbeche and Exoroche or simply head to Chateau d'Oraguille and talk to Prince Trion for a final cutscene and to obtain your reward.

Previous Quest: A Boy's Dream
Next Quest: None

Walkthrough
* Speak to Guslam at H-8 in Upper Jeuno in the Durable Shields shop and accept the quest.

The Hands
* You'll need to head to Eldieme Necropolis and open a coffer there, so either:
* Obtain a Eldieme Coffer Key; or come as a thief and bring along tools to pick the lock.
* Open a coffer in Eldieme Necropolis and obtain the Old Gauntlets (key item).
* If you are reacquiring AF or getting AF for another job, skip this portion and proceed to the next step. If this is your first job, do the following:

* Go to Lower Jeuno and go into the Tenshodo to talk to Yin Pocanakhu at J-8. Pay her 1,000 gil to hear her story.
* Kill Dark Spark.

* Garlaige Citadel: Gallant Coronet
* Beadeaux: Gallant Breeches
* You must open the coffer while you have Paladin as the main job.

Notes
* You must have started A Boy's Dream (AF2) before you can start this quest.
* If you have any other Borghertz's Hands quest active you will need to complete that one before you can get this quest.
* After starting the quest, you can obtain the rewards in any order.
* The quest is marked complete upon obtaining the gloves. You can still complete the other parts despite completion of the quest

(Note: extends duration of holy circle by 30 seconds)

(Note: increases chances of covering magic attacks)

Start NPC: Ryoma - Norg (H-8)
Requirements: Ninja 50+
Items Needed: Oak Pole
Title: None
Repeatable:Yes, see Vingijard after AF is complete.
Reward: Ninja Hakama

Previous Quest: 20 in Pirate Years
Next Quest: True Will and Borghertz's Lurking Hands

Walkthrough
* Speak with Ryoma (H-8) in Norg who will give you the quest and tell you to track down Ensetsu (I-5) in Port Bastok.
* NOTE: You must zone after completing the quest 20 in Pirate Years for Ryoma to give you the quest.
* Ensetsu will tell of a new player in the story, Leodarion (F-8), who resides in Rabao.
* Obtain an Oak Pole and then head to Rabao.
* Leodarion will ask you for the Oak Pole. Trade it to him and then you must wait until the next Vana'diel day before you may speak to him again. He will then give you the Seance Staff (key item) and tell you to head to Mhaura.
* NOTE: Leodarion will not accept an Oak Pole +1.
* Head to Mhaura and catch the ferry to Selbina around midnight.
* Once you have departed, head onto the deck and a ghost named Enagakure will be spawned.
* Defeat Enagakure and Leodarion will meet you when the ship docks for a cutscene completing the quest.

Special Notes
* Enagakure will only spawn from 20:00 to 4:00; like most Ghost type monsters.
o Take the ferry that departs for Selbina between 15:30-16:30
o CAUTION: The Notorious Monster Sea Horror occasionally appears on the ferry; see if it has spawned and avoid aggro.
* Enagakure can be killed by most jobs solo at level sixty-three and up.
* You DO NOT need to be Ninja for the NM to spawn; however, you must possess the key item Seance Staff
* If your inventory was full you need to go back to Mhaura and kill Enagakure again. Then watch the cutscene again to finish the quest.

True Will

Items Needed: Kuftal Coffer Key
Title: Paragon of Ninja Excellence
Repeatable: Yes, see Vingijard after AF is complete.
Reward: Ninja Chainmail

Previous Quest: I'll Take the Big Box
Next Quest: None

Walkthrough
* Ryoma in Norg sends you to Yhoator Jungle.
* Examine the ??? at (I-7) to spawn 3 NM Sahagin:
* Kappa Akuso (Monk) Uses Hundred Fists.
* Kappa Biwa (Bard) Uses Soul Voice.
* Kappa Bonze (White Mage) Uses Benediction.
* Note: Kappa Bonze may be slept with Lullaby, Sleep or Repose. Akuso and Biwa appear to be immune to the effect.
* Note: Only one Kappa needs to be defeated. Has true-hearing and seems to aggro magic. Recommended strategy is to spawn and run to Den of Rancor. Let the other two Kappas move back to the ???, and fight the one Kappa at the zone.
* Note: When using the strategy to just kill one NM you must first wait for the other two NMs to depop before killing the NM you have pulled or else you will not receive the key item from the ??? spawn point.
o When using this strategy, it is highly recommended that you do not choose Kappa Akuso as the one that you fight.
o If you do choose to fight Kappa Akuso, fight near the Ifrit's Cauldron zone. Zone immediately after he uses Hundred Fists and wait 20 seconds. Zone back into Yhoator Jungle and fight him again. This time he will not use Hundred Fists. Kappa Akuso is soloable by a 60 NIN/DNC using this method.
o When using this strategy, this fight is known soloable by most jobs at 75 given a solo-friendly job/subjob.
o When using this strategy, this fight is soloable near level 60 by jobs more adept at soloing.
* Also soloable, yet very risky at 75 by "super-tanking" all three sahagin using a high evasion job, and a high-evasion gear set up. This strategy is rather risky, and not recommended to even be attempted unless you have shadows and healing availble fom your job/subjob combo.
* Easily soloable by a RDM/BLU supertanking all three sahagin without using shadows or evading any attacks, standart buffs (Protect IV, Stoneskin, Phalanx, Cocoon, Ice Spikes, Barblizzard, Barparalyze and a Tavnazian Taco) take care of pretty much all the damage, just beware of Magic Finale spam and Soul Voice Minuet.
* Take caution if Woodland Sage pops, it does aggro level 75's.
* Kill them and examine ??? again to get an Old Trick Box (key item).
* Take it back to Ryoma who then sends you to Rabao to talk with Leodarion.
* Leodarion sends you to Kuftal Tunnel.
* Obtain a Kuftal Coffer Key and open a Treasure Coffer to receive a Large Trick Box (key item). (Note: this can be done as any job; the Large Trick Box can be attained by picking the lock as THF.)
* Bring it back to Leodarion to complete the quest.

* The Boyahda Tree: Ninja Hatsuburi
* You must have Ninja as your main job when you open these coffers.

Notes
* You must have started I'll Take the Big Box (AF2) before you can start this quest.
* If you have any other Borghertz's Hands quest active you will need to complete that one before you can start this quest.
* After starting the quest, you can obtain the rewards in any order.
* The quest is marked complete upon obtaining the Ninja Tekko.

Monk AF Guide

Ghosts of the Past
From FFXIclopedia, the free Final Fantasy XI encyclopedia
This is the first Monk Artifact Armor quest - otherwise known as AF1.

Start NPC: Oggbi - Port Bastok (E-6)
Requirements: Monk 40+
Items Needed: Pickaxe
Title: None
Repeatable: Yes, after AF is complete.
Reward: Beat Cesti

Previous Quest: None
Next Quest: The First Meeting

Walkthrough
* After talking to Oggbi, obtain a Pickaxe. (You can buy one from Numa (E-7) in Port Bastok for about 190 gil.)
* Then, head to Gusgen Mines and look for a ??? around G-7.
* To get to the ??? in Gusgen Mines, go straight across the first map and down the stairs. Use the left hand door to enter the second map.
* Go to the room in the northwest corner and follow the corridor that runs west from this room. This will take you down to a new map. Go to the second room.
* The ??? is located on the left side of the room toward the back. There is another ??? on the left side at the back of a shed (this is not the one you want).
* Use a pickaxe there and it will trigger the Wandering Ghost to spawn.
* Kill it and it will drop the Miner's Pendant. Bring it back to Oggbi for your reward.

The First Meeting
From FFXIclopedia, the free Final Fantasy XI encyclopedia
This is the second Monk Artifact Armor quest - otherwise known as AF2.

Start NPC: Oggbi - Port Bastok (E-6)
Requirements: Monk 50+
Items Needed: None
Title: None
Repeatable: Yes, see Vingijard after AF is complete.
Reward: Temple Gaiters

Previous Quest: Ghosts of the Past
Next Quest: True Strength and Borghertz's Striking Hands

Walkthrough
* Talk to Oggbi in Port Bastok inside the Steaming Sheep Restaurant located at (E-6). He will ask you to accompany Dalzakk to Fei'Yin.
o Once the quest shows up in your quest log, you may feel free to change jobs to continue the quest with another job (preferably a higher leveled job).
* Zone into Qu'Bia Arena and upon exiting back into Fei'Yin you will trigger a cutscene and receive Letter from Dalzakk (key item).
* After that, head to Davoi and look for a 'Hide Flap' on one of the tents at (F-7).
o Clear the area of any Orcs wandering around the area as they will link to the NMs once they are spawned, this can spell disaster, even for a job at level 75.
* This triggers two NM Orcs to spawn: Bilopdop (MNK) and Deloknok (PLD).
o Bilopdop is immune to Sleep, even with Elemental Seal. Deloknok is sleepable.
o See also: Testimonials.
* Kill them and investigate the 'Hide Flap' on the tent again to receive the San d'Orian Martial Arts Scroll (Key Item).

Note: The 'Hide Flap' may have moved to another tent while you attack the NMs but will have re-popped within the same area. If this happens just examine the flap on the new tent to receive the key item. The second 'Hide Flap' spawns when you POP the two NMs, not when you KILL them, so if you have someone along who can take hate after the NMs are popped, it is not necessary to kill them. The NM fight can be soloed at any level. Simply spawn the NMs with reraise on then die and wait for them to despawn, reraise then check the flaps without zoning.
* Return to Oggbi to obtain the Temple Gaiters.
o NOTE: You must zone after obtaining your artifact weapon (Beat Cesti) to flag this quest.

True Strength
From FFXIclopedia, the free Final Fantasy XI encyclopedia
This is the third Monk Artifact Armor quest - otherwise known as AF3.

Title: Paragon of Monk Excellence
Repeatable: Yes, see Vingijard after AF is complete.
Reward: Temple Hose

Previous Quest: The First Meeting
Next Quest: None

Walkthrough
* Talk to Ayame in Metalworks.
* She asks you to defeat a powerful Yagudo, Huu Xalmo the Savage, in Castle Oztroja and recover the Xalmo Feather as proof.
o Note: Once you have talked to Ayame, the quest will show up in your quest log, at this point you may switch to another job to complete the quest. You do not have to fight Huu Xalmo the Savage as a MNK.
* You will need to trade a Yagudo Drink to a ??? on map 4 H-8 of Castle Oztroja to spawn Huu Xalmo the Savage.
* Return to Ayame and trade the Xalmo Feather to receive the Temple Hose.
